Various regions of West Bengal experienced tremors on Saturday morning following a 5.6 magnitude earthquake that struck neighboring Bangladesh. The National Center for Seismology reported that the seismic activity occurred in southeastern Bangladesh at a depth of 55 km around 9:05 am.
The NCS shared details of the earthquake on X, stating, “Earthquake of Magnitude: 5.6, Occurred on 02-12-2023, 09:05:31 IST, Lat: 23.15 & Long: 90.89, Depth: 55 Km, Location: Bangladesh, India.”
As of now, the West Bengal Disaster Management Department has not received any reports of damage from across the state. An official mentioned to PTI, “We are yet to get the final report. As of now, there is no report of any damage due to the quake.”
