Workers from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and West Bengal police clashed outside the Raniganj railway station as they left for Nabanna to participate in the Nabanna Abhiyan. According to preliminary reports, police have taken several workers into custody as a precaution. While the Trinamool Congress questioned the BJP about the protest’s motivations, the latter stated that the agitation is in response to alleged corruption in the West Bengal government.
Hundreds of BJP workers were seen travelling by train to Kolkata to join the BJP’s Nabanna march. West Bengal police blocked access to railway stations to prevent people from participating in the Nabanna rally.
